Fantasy romance books intertwine a love story with a plot containing magic, fairies, other supernatural creatures, or some type of magic, all set in a magical, imaginary setting.

What do you expect from a good fantasy romance?

Slow-burn romance

I want to feel the tension between the characters and see them struggle and surmount obstacles before giving in to their feelings. For me, the build-up is more satisfying than the relationship itself.

Immersive world-building

Since we're talking about fantasy, I want to be immersed in a well-crafted mystical world surrounded by supernatural creatures and danger. Even without romance, world-building plays an essential role in any fantasy book.

Suspense and plot-twists

I love it when a book is hard to put down and keeps me on the edge of my seat. I love it even more when it goes in a different direction than I expected.

The ideal fantasy romance book would have excellent writing, a gripping tale, endearing characters, and a wonderful slow-burn romance.

Below I compiled a list of my favorite fifteen fantasy romance books in no particular orderand I hope some of them will make it to your TBR. Enjoy!
