The novel combines fated mates, paranormal adventure, and spicy romance - perfect for the holidays! If you’re looking for a book that’s both heartwarming and steamy, this is it. It’s the ultimate escape for readers who want something light and entertaining.

What I Loved About It

One of the biggest draws of this book is its fast pace and readability. From the start, I found myself easily immersed in the story, and it maintained a momentum that kept me engaged throughout. The multiple POVs added depth, giving insight into the minds of all the central characters, which I always enjoy in romance novels.

The balance between plot and spice is a standout feature in this book. While “Snowed In with the Gargoyles” is undeniably a steamy read, it also has a coherent storyline that holds its own. The characters are surprisingly well-fleshed out for a short holiday romance. The two male gargoyles are the ultimate cinnamon rolls—strong, masculine, yet gentle and caring. I adored the female lead, Morgan, as well. A conservation biologist, she’s independent and strong while still embracing her feminine side. Their chemistry, both emotional and physical, felt genuine and left me rooting for their happy ending.

What Didn’t Resonate with Me

While I enjoyed the book overall, if had to pick my least favorite thing it would be the insta-love element. The characters’ emotional connection felt immediate, leaving less room for relationship development. However, that’s to be expected with the fated mate trope. So, while I prefer a slow burn, the insta-love won’t prevent me from enjoying a good paranormal romance.

Also, I know a lot of paranormal readers love the breeding kink. I'm not one of them, but I'm not put off by it either.

Themes and Tropes

“Snowed In with the Gargoyles” has all the romance tropes you love, so it’s a cozy and satisfying read for paranormal romance fans. Key tropes and themes include:

  • Fated Mates: The central driving force of the romance, with the two gargoyles immediately recognizing Morgan as their “final roost mate.”
  • Size Difference: They’re monsters, so of course they’re bigger than human men (in every aspect), which adds to the allure and dynamic of their relationship.
  • Christmas Story: The holiday setting is cozy, adding a layer of warmth and magic to the romance.
  • MMF: This triad dynamic is central to the plot and the spice factor, appealing to fans of multiple-partner romance.
  • Paranormal Romance: With gargoyles as the central supernatural creatures, this story adds a unique twist to the usual monster romance genre. I hope to read more gargoyle stories.
  • Growling and purring: If you like it, there's plenty of it.

For readers who enjoy any of these elements, “Snowed In with the Gargoyles” delivers on all fronts.

Final Thoughts

Overall, “Snowed In with the Gargoyles” is an entertaining, spicy holiday read that hits all the right notes for a quick, feel-good escape. Zoe Ashwood has crafted a steamy paranormal romance with just the right amount of sweetness and spice. While the insta-love aspect may not appeal to everyone, the well-drawn characters and fated mates trope make it an enjoyable read for fans of the genre. If you’re looking for cinnamon-roll monster men and a bit of holiday magic, this book is a perfect pick for a cozy night in.
