The Unwanted by Z.T. Soyoye – Book Review

I loved the storyline and the friendship that connects the characters. It’s the gripping story of a group of teenagers with different abilities, that they’re just discovering and can’t fully comprehend.

When one of them gets killed and the day resets, Alex makes it his mission to prevent the murder from happening. Things don’t go as planned and although his friend survives, something else bad happens. Alex feels guilty and goes above and beyond to make things right again.

The story is original and the writing is tight, well-paced, and engaging with relatable, multidimensional characters. I wish I knew more about the superpowers each character has, like where did these powers come from. But I suspect the author plans on revealing this a little bit at a time, and I’m okay with it.

I recommend this book to all young adult fantasy fans.

I particularly enjoyed the plot twist at the end which left me wanting for more. I look forward to reading the next book!
